Can You Understand Directions in Spanish?

In this video, you will learn how to give directions in Spanish!

The first thing you need to know is that the question to use when you want to find a place (or a person) is “Donde esta…?” It means: WHERE IS.

Some directions you will use or hear when you ask for the location of a place are: Siga derecho, gire a la derecha, and gire a la izquierda. You will also probably hear about reference points that people use to guide you better. These are called prepositions of place: Al frente de (In front of), al lado de (next to), detras de (behind). Another common expression you will hear is “en la esquina” which is on the corner.

Listen to the expressions in the video and then watch the conversation again. Did you find the expressions in the dialogue? Can you now give directions from your home to the store? to the bus stop? to the closest avenue?
