Do you want to learn how to say different greetings and farewells in Spanish other than hola and adios?

In this video, you will learn or review six different ways to say hi and bye in Spanish.

1. If you are in a situation, like talking to your boss or a stranger, it is better if you use a formal greeting.  Buenos dias, if it is in the morning.  Buenas tardes, if it is in the afternoon, and buenas noches if you are arriving to a place at night.

2. If you are with a group of friends, or your family, you can use the informal greetings: que mas, que hubo, and que tal.

3. Formal farewells are: hasta luego, which in the video I say you can use it when you see the person later in the day, but you can actually use it if you don’t really know when you are going to see this person again. It could be later in the day or it could be the next month. You could also say hasta manana, if you will see them the next day.

4. To say to your friends or family you can say chao or nos vemos.

5. Hola is a very popular greeting, so it is not mentioned in the video. It can be used at any time during the day, and it could be said also to pretty much everybody.
