Lesson 15 | How to use TAMBIÉN and TAMPOCO in Spanish

TAMBIÉN and TAMPOCO

In this video, you will learn to express similarities using TAMBIÉN and TAMPOCO.  You will use también with affirmative sentences. When you reply you will have two options “yo también” or “a mí también”. Now, when do you use each one?

Use a mí también when the sentence has an indirect object pronoun like me, te, le, nos, os, and les. You can learn more about these in our last lesson below.

Now for some examples…
(Person A) Me gusta la hamburgoesa.
(You) a mí también

(Person A) A ellas les encanta correr.
(You) a mí también

When the sentences use personal pronouns like yo, tú, él, ella, usted… You will respond with yo, tú, él, ella, usted… también.

Here are some examples…

(Person A) Trabajo todos los días.
(You) Yo también

(Person A) Ella baila muy bien
(You) Yo también

Now for negative sentences, you will need to use tampoco. You will use it the same way as with también.

Here are some examples…
(Person A) No me gusta el tráfico
(You) A mí tampoco

(Person A) No trabajo todos los días
(You) Yo tampoco
